Dan Gaudette is an internationally renowned realist landscape and seascape artist. He spent much of his painting career focusing on Ireland, with its powerful seas and expansive pastoral scenes — and the peaceful tranquility of his native New England's countryside and ever-changing seacoast.
Dan exhibits his artwork in various galleries in Ireland and in the United States. Dan Gaudette paintings are displayed in many private collections throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, South Africa, and Australia.
Dan Gaudette has been best described as a romantic realist; a man who paints from the heart. He finds that landscapes are an inexhaustible inspiration. His many variations and interpretations testify to painstaking analysis, authenticity, and thoughtful appreciation of his surroundings. Working in oil, his brushstrokes capture every detail of his subject matter. Dan’s graphic realism is achieved by the precise and meticulous control of his medium, yet his work is always fresh. The poetic and evocative qualities of a scene are never lost.
Dan says, “In my paintings, I capture the expanses and the intimate vignettes of an area, recreating a mental state as well as a realistic vision. I have a feeling of what is around me and I combine what impresses me visually with the emotions I experience at the time. I incorporate my fascination with sunlight, both direct and indirect, and its effect on the subject. It is all part of creating the mood and atmosphere of an area in a painting.”
Mr. Gaudette has enjoyed a 40+ year career as a fine artist. In addition to his ongoing oil painting creations, he makes time to conduct private art lessons and also teaches courses in art at a local college. He is often asked to undertake commission work.
He holds membership in many art associations and serves as an experienced juror for various art organizations.
Dan Gaudette was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts.
